Join a magnificent tour and cross the island’s inland, its northern part and the west. Visit the restored Demeter’s temple in Sangri from circa 530 B.C. and the museum with local findings. Afterwards, we will take you to a typical Cycladic pottery workshop and a traditional olive press in Damalas Village. Here you will learn what sfouni or the cup of justice is.
Continue your tour to the oldest Citron distillery of the Naxos, dating back to 1896, in Halki. There, take the chance to taste the local Citron drink. After that, visit Filoti village and Panagia Filotitissa, with a marble screen and a carved bell tower dating from 1801. Then, a visit at Apeiranthos will give you the chance to see the famous marble village and shop in local traditional shops. The architectural design of the houses in Apeiranthos has remained almost untouched since the time of the Venetian Empire: narrow marble paved mule tracks, often covered by archways; Venetian defense towers which are exemplary of the fortifications architecture of the time; two-story stone houses with peculiar architectural details and tiny squares.
Last but not least we stop at Eggares olive press museum where you will gain precious insight into practices and a way of life that now belongs to the past now long gone.
Finish your tour as you head safely back to Naxos town after a memorable trip.
